Boat's
New Sail
Tests on the Cob were undertaken on 4th October to test the sail on the replica 'folly' vehicle, Spooner's
Boat.
Tests last year indicated that a larger sail was needed in order to effectively use 'the Boat' on the Cob. Although funding was promised for this item by the FR Heritage Group, in practice the money was generously donated by two individuals.
The replica Boat was completed in 2005 and was paid for by the legacy of long time FR archivist, Michael Seymour. It is a replica vehicle based on the original that ran on the railway in the late 19th Century and is a surprising addition to the FR heritage fleet.
